This is an intensive 2-day workshop for those who can already throw cups using up to 500 grams of porcelain.

We will deep dive into professional level technique so that centering, coning, opening up and pulling up become second nature to you so you can go through these steps quickly and use your time efficiently in the studio.

This workshop will give you the skills so you can make more pieces when you come to open studios and don’t struggle with the basic steps anymore.

Think of this as the pottery version of Karate Kit, wax on and wax off… :)

We will focus on professional level technique and the nuances in hand position, pressure and speed rather than creating perfect pieces.

After doing all the exercises and finishing 5 kg of clay in one day, you will visibly see the results and even more importantly, you will feel the ease and confidence with which you will be able to work on the wheel.

No more struggling with the basics of throwing, no more spending 5 minutes to center your clay or not knowing how to prevent problems such as uneven wall thickness or rims.

You will be working with 250-500 grams of porcelain clay and will be encouraged to use up to 5 kg of porcelain throughout the workshop.

You will cut all the pieces you make on Friday to see the cross section of your pieces but you will be able to keep everything you make in the open studio.

The open studio session on Saturday you will have another 5 kg of porcelain to work with and will be able to keep all the pieces you make in that session.

    Price includes:
10 kg of soft porcelain clay
Bisque firing of up to 10 objects
    Lunch on Friday
    Coffee, tea, water

What is not included in the price:
    Prepaid parking tickets
    Extra porcelain clay
